Dentures accumulate bacteria and plaque like natural teeth. Without proper cleaning, this causes bad breath, gum irritation, and material deterioration. Check out our Denture Hygiene page.

DAILY ROUTINE:

Rinse after eating. Brush daily with a soft denture brush and non-abrasive cleaner (never regular toothpaste — it is too abrasive). Soak overnight in water or a cleaning tablet solution. Rinse before reinserting.

CLEANING TABLETS:

Drop a tablet into warm water, submerge dentures, soak for the specified time. The effervescent action breaks down plaque and kills bacteria. Rinse thoroughly before wearing.

DENTURE BRUSHES:

Use a dedicated brush with two head types. Replace every three months. Regular toothbrushes are too hard and scratch the acrylic.

WHAT TO AVOID:

Regular toothpaste (abrasive), bleach (damages acrylic and metal), hot water (distorts the base), and drying out (causes warping).

PROFESSIONAL CLEANING:

Recommended annually to remove calculus and deep staining that home care cannot address. At D3 Clinic, this also serves as a condition check.
